Senior Clinical Intern

This is an exciting opportunity at the clinic of Sarthi partner physician in Dearborn, MI. The role gives you extensive clinical experience and in the last 3 seasons, the Senior Interns have all matched. This position has opened up since the current Senior intern accepted a prematch.
The job offers USD15/hr compensation with benefits. Interns will be required to commit a minimum of 35 hrs a week. There will be weeks where they will require 40 hr work weeks. We can also have them set up with our housing collaboration for an affordable rate within walking distance of the clinic.

Here are the requirements:
  1. A medical graduate
  2. Fluent in English and works well with others.
  3. Has a work permit/work visa to work in the USA -if no work visa status - this can be arranged also if they want to only gain experience as a volunteer position ONLY for those looking for ways to build their CV and volunteer exposure and are unable to work due to current visa status. Preference to working VISA holders first.  Arabic speaking is a plus but not mandatory.
Job Description
We require the senior intern's services to provide intake of patients and auditing of notes. The intern will be responsible in the day-to-day operation of consulting with other interns on the floor and delegate them to see patient and complete notes. The intern will also need to provide informative training to our medical students, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners on innovative techniques for diagnosing clinic patients and conducting plans of care under supervision.
Duties will also include the following:
  • Educating medical students, Physician Assistants and Nursing Practitioners with regards to assessing patients and conducting treatment plans of care, and on performing physical exams and taking vitals on patients.
  • Instructing medical students, Physician Assistants and Nursing Practitioners on how to operate the clinic’s system and take patient history.
  • Providing education to medical students, Physician Assistants and Nursing Practitioners in the form of didactic learning and presentations.
  • Co-ordinating the medical students, Physician Assistants and Nursing Practitioners schedules for Patient First Medical Clinic, PLLC rotations.
  • They will have to ensure that intern notes are completed correctly and audit them in a timely fashion.
  • They will have to be prompt and on time every day to take in patient when clinic opens and room them for interns.
  • They will have to be able to also float on days where there is a lack of interns and see patients and complete notes.
  • They will have to have a fundamental understanding of internal medicine and will need to prepare some reading on Addiction Medicine to be better prepared for our MAT program.

We would like them to have a few week orientation with us before we start them formally on Payroll.
They will need to be good with multi-tasking and covering administrative tasks such as calling patients to follow up on hospital visits, medicine checks, health status checks, telemedicine screening, sending out labs, reading out lab results and send out referrals.

They will need to COVID-19 swab especially with the focus of our new Ag rapid testing machines and reading the results, following up with patient results, preparing samples on the machines, sending out to RT-PCR labs and handling the Curb-Side testing program where they will be swabbing patient outside. Senior interns will be provided the necessary PPE to conduct these tasks safely and securely.

Punctuality and commitment to coming to the in-person office for their shifts is of utmost important.
