Course Overview:

  1. This is a 4 week course, where you will have weekly meetings with the faculty mentor.
  2. The research topics will be discussed during the introductory lecture. The faculty can help with topic selection or the students can pick their own topics. There will be weekly meetings with the faculty to discuss the progress, review the work done and get feedback. The goal will be to finish the writeup in 4 weeks and submit for publication. 
  3. Review articles can be written individually or in groups. Depending on the work done by the group, the sequence of authorship will differ.
  4. Student will learn how to write review articles.
  5. Maximun 3 students will be in the group.
  6. Dr. Jain will recommend which journals to submit to once the project is done and ready for submission in one month.
  7. The fee for the 4 week project is $650 and any cost associated with publication will be the responsibility of the students.

Course Curriculum:

As part of the 4-week course, doctor develop proposals for research projects they want to conduct. During this time, residents will have ample opportunity to work independently on their projects.

Week 3: Project Progress and Q&A session
Week 4: Submit for publication

Topics covered will include:
  1. Defining a research question or project aim
  2. Choosing the appropriate study design
  3. Searching the medical literature
  4. Defining hypotheses, objectives, and outcome
  5. Refine methods
  6. Analyzing data
  7. Research Ethics​
